Building
Your layout is on the screen; now you want to build it. For that you take two things out of the editor: a drawing to scale, and a list of what you need.
8.1 Layout plan and parts list
Both are on the Project tab of the ribbon.
The layout plan as PDF
Layout plan as PDF makes a drawing to scale of your whole layout, a page per level.
The drawing shows the tables with their measures, the track, the buildings, the roads and the water, and the measuring lines and labels you put in the CAD view yourself. In the window you choose:
- Paper: the size you print on.
- Article numbers on the track: every piece of track carries its article number.
- Trees and bushes: leave them out when they crowd the drawing.
Then choose Download PDF. The scale is on every page, with a scale bar; TRAX picks it itself, as large as your paper holds.
The parts list
Parts list counts every article that lies on your layout.
The list is divided by track library, with the brand and the scale: a layout of Märklin C track and K track is two shopping lists. Every article has its description and how many of it you need. Buildings, trees and other objects are listed too, under a heading of their own; they have no article number yet.
- The order: Most used first, By type or By article number.
- With more than one table you choose Whole layout or a single table. That gives a list per module.
Save as a spreadsheet file keeps the list as a file you open in Excel or another spreadsheet.- Print the list prints the list alone, not the editor around it.
