The track libraries

A track library is one make's one track system: Märklin C track, Peco code 83, Kato Unitrack. Choose one and you get exactly the pieces that system has, with their real lengths, radii and angles and with their own article numbers beside them. What you build in the editor you can order from a shop.

You can have more than one open at a time. That is useful not only when you mix two systems, but also when you are drawing an existing layout and only decide later what you will build it from.

How you choose one

Open the side panel and go to the track drawer. At the top is the library that is open at the moment.
The button beside it adds one. The list below then grows longer; it is not replaced.
Search the list by article number if you know exactly what you need.

Your project's scale comes from the first library you open. Everything with a real size after that, from trees to the scale figure, is sized from it. If you want another scale, set it on the Project tab.

How to read the pictures

Every piece is drawn from its own measurements, in plan: the ballast bed, the sleepers at their real spacing and the two rails at gauge. Within one library they are all at the same scale, set by the largest piece. A curve of twice the radius really is twice the size on your screen.

Flex track is the exception. It is a metre of track with no shape of its own, so it is drawn curled up and it does not count towards the scale.

Rights and where it comes from

TRAX3D's track libraries were built up over the years, and not all of it comes from one hand.

Part of the geometry comes from SCARM, Milen Peev's program, taken over with his permission in the days of TRAX2. That data stays his; TRAX3D uses it under licence.
The rest is our own work: entered, measured and corrected against the makers' own figures.
Brand names and article numbers belong to the makers. They stand here because a track system can only be named by its own name; TRAX3D is not connected with them and is not endorsed by them.

If you find a measurement that is wrong, report it through the support form. Every correction is held against two independent sources before it goes into a library.
