From TRAX2 to TRAX3D

Did you build in TRAX2? Then you do not have to start again. This page walks you through what happens to your account and your layouts, and what to look at once they have come over.

1. Your account

Your TRAX2 account comes along to TRAX3D, with the same email address and your old password. So you sign in the way you are used to.

If your old password does not work, use Forgotten your password? on the sign-in page. If your account is not there yet, register with the same email address you used in TRAX2: that address is how we recognise your layouts.

2. Fetching your layouts

1. Sign in and go to My projects.
2. Click Fetch layouts from TRAX2.
3. You see the layouts that belong to your email address in TRAX2. Tick the ones you want and click Fetch the selected ones.

The layouts appear under My projects and are not shared. Nothing changes in TRAX2: everything there stays as it was.

3. What happens in the conversion

TRAX2 was a drawing seen from above; TRAX3D is a world in three dimensions. The editor converts your layout when you open it:

• The track lies in the same place, with the same pieces from the same library, and belongs to the table it was lying on.
• The tables keep their shape.
• A drawn landscape becomes real terrain with hills and valleys.
• Turntables get their connections around the edge of the pit.

If your layout has no drawn landscape, it opens as a construction drawing (CAD): flat colours, outlines and article numbers, the way a track plan looks. With a landscape it opens realistic. You can always switch yourself on the View tab.

For a layout from TRAX2, Ground follows track and objects is off, so that your landscape stays exactly as it was. You turn it on in the Settings panel, under Terrain.

Walls, doors and the objects from TRAX2 are not shown yet. They are not lost: they stay stored in the file.

4. Checking and saving

Check your layout before you build on:

• See whether the track joins up everywhere. A loose end has a dot.
• If track disappears into a hill, turn See-through (50%) on on the View tab, or mark the piece as a tunnel with .
• If you get the message that part of the track has changed, the track library has been corrected since TRAX2. Those pieces are marked in ruby red; replace them before you save.

Then save with Save track plan to cloud on the Project tab. From then on your layout is in the new format.
